Finding your place
Neighborhood guidance, property search support, viewings and local context to help you make an informed decision.
Moving here, setting up a second home, or need someone you trust to look after your property while you're away?
I help make life in Punta del Este simpler — connecting you with the right people, handling the practical details and staying close to the things that are hard to manage from afar.
Relocation · Property Care · Local Concierge
There are a lot of moving parts to building a life or owning a home in another country. You shouldn't have to figure out every one of them yourself.
I'm Sofía Gaya. I'm based in Punta del Este, and I help international families and homeowners navigate life here — from figuring out where to live and choosing schools to setting up a house, coordinating repairs or checking on a property while you're abroad.
You deal directly with me. When something requires a specialist, I bring in people I know and trust.
Sofi has an amazing network and always seems to know the right person to call.
How can I help?
Thinking about moving to Punta?
Before you decide where to live, which school to choose or whether Punta is right for you at all, it helps to experience the area through the eyes of someone who lives here.
I can help you understand the differences between neighborhoods, visit schools, explore properties, get a feel for everyday distances and routines, and meet some of the people and places that could become part of your life here.
Depending on what matters to you, we can explore:
At the end, we'll talk through what you've seen and the options that seem to fit you best.
Ready to make the move?
A lawyer or notary can guide you through residency and legal requirements. My role is to help you actually land here.
That might mean finding the right neighborhood, touring homes, choosing a school, buying a car, arranging healthcare, setting up utilities, finding childcare or getting connected to a tennis club, surf instructor or other families.
Every relocation is different, so the support is built around yours.
Relocation support can include:
Neighborhood guidance, property search support, viewings and local context to help you make an informed decision.
Schools, healthcare, banking, transportation, utilities, moving logistics and the many practical details that come with starting life in a new country.
Introductions to activities, clubs, services, people and places that fit the way you and your family actually want to live.
Furniture, equipment, decoration, deliveries, renovations, utilities and everything needed to make the house feel ready when you walk through the door.
Introductions to trusted legal and notarial professionals, plus practical help navigating appointments and documentation when needed.
Already own a home here?
Owning a house in Punta should not mean managing gardeners, electricians, deliveries and maintenance from another country.
I can be your local point of contact, keeping an eye on the property and dealing with what comes up when you aren't here.
Property care can include:
If something needs attention, you hear from me rather than discovering it when you arrive.
Coming back to Punta?
Sometimes the best service is simply arriving and finding everything ready.
Before you come, I can coordinate the details that make a second home feel like a home again: cleaning, household setup, groceries, repairs, transport, reservations, activities and whatever else has accumulated while you were away.
So your first few days in Punta can actually feel like being here.
Renovating or setting up a property?
Projects are particularly difficult to manage from another country.
I can coordinate local suppliers and tradespeople, receive deliveries, check progress, send updates and photos, flag outstanding decisions and stay involved until the work is complete.
You still make the important decisions. You don't have to chase every detail.
Meet Sofía
I spent years living in different countries myself, so I know the difference it makes to arrive somewhere new and have a person you can actually call.
Before settling in Punta del Este, I spent nearly 20 years working internationally in technology and travel, in roles centered on understanding people, solving problems and connecting them with what they needed.
Today I live here with my children and have built the kind of local network that takes time to develop: trusted professionals, tradespeople, schools, services, businesses and people I genuinely recommend.
When I'm not working, you'll usually find me surfing, kitesurfing, practicing yoga, spending time outdoors or discovering another corner of this part of Uruguay with my family and friends.
I chose this life too. And I love helping other people find their way into it.
How I work
You work directly with me rather than being passed between departments or vendors.
I have a trusted local network of lawyers, notaries, real-estate professionals, tradespeople, designers, suppliers and specialists.
When you're abroad, distance can make small problems feel much bigger. I keep communication simple, let you know what is happening and flag decisions that need your attention.
Some clients need help for a day. Others need support for months or ongoing property care. We start with what you actually need.
For lawyers, notaries and professional advisers
Once residency, tax, legal or real-estate work is underway, clients often still have an entirely different set of questions.
I provide the local continuity that allows you to stay focused on your area of expertise while knowing your client is being personally supported on the ground.
I don't replace legal, tax, notarial or real-estate professionals. I complement their work.
Sofi was such an incredible resource for me while figuring out my family's new life in Uruguay. She showed us different neighborhoods around Punta, walked us through school options for our kids, helped us find activities and childcare, and streamlined the process of getting our visas and cédulas.
She's incredibly easygoing, personable, and a natural problem solver. Sofi has an amazing network and always seems to know the right person to call, whether you need help finding a home, getting it set up, navigating local services, or just figuring out everyday life.
There was never any pressure or sales pitch, just genuinely helpful guidance tailored to what we needed. Having Sofi there made everything about getting settled in the Punta area feel so much easier.
Not sure where to begin?
You don't need to know which service you need or have your whole plan worked out.
Maybe you're wondering whether Punta would work for your family. Maybe you just bought a house and need help setting it up. Maybe you already own one and need someone you trust here while you're away.
Tell me where you are in the process, and we'll start there.
